I am the founder and CEO of ReadySet, a data infrastructure startup that is building a CDN for databases.

Before starting ReadySet, I was a computer science PhD student at MIT. During my time there, I thought about the future of data systems. This included exploring novel data architectures as well as democratizing interfaces. In this latter case, I frequently used machine learning as a tool to enable more people to benefit from data.

Before MIT

Before I came to MIT, I was an undergraduate at Cornell University, where I explored the implications of resource disaggregation in the cloud,  investigated the effects of low precision arithmetic and variance reduction on the performance and hardware efficiency of stochastic gradient descent (SGD), and led a team of 50+ engineers in designing and building a fully-functional prototype of a Hyperloop pod.

I’ve had the opportunity to do many wonderful summer internships, including spending a summer at UC Berkeley’s RISELab, where I worked on Ray, a distributed execution engine for machine learning, and another working on computer vision problems at a 3D bioprinting startup, Allevi. I also spent a fantastic six months at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, U.K, where I was a part of the Cloud Infrastructure team. I worked as a networking intern on  Project Sirius,  and as a deep learning intern on Project Silica.

Outside of work

Although I’ve been entrenched in the world of computer infrastructure since college, I like to go down rabbit holes. Over the past few years, I’ve enjoyed exploring crypto(graphy mostly, but sometimes cryptocurrencies), longevity science, neurobiology, and political philosophy.

I’m an early adopter of many products in the health and wellness space. My most recent discovery has been synchronous guided meditations (I’ve enjoyed the virtual classes offered by Unplug LA). I am always looking for new friends to work out with– ping me if this is of interest to you!

I love animals more than anything. I’ve been vegan for the past four years, and if I could only change one thing about the world, I’d end factory farming. I frequently donate to Mercy for Animals, the Good Food Institute, and the International Bird Rescue– check them out. Relatedly, I believe in effective altruism.

My favorite hobby is dressage (an equestrian sport, for those unfamiliar) and I would talk your ear off about it if you let me. I’ve gotten into skiing this past year but I’m not good at it yet.
